  • [13 Mar 97] Suttas added and indexed:
    • Vitakkasanthana Sutta: The Relaxation of Thoughts (MN 20). The Buddha presents five ways of responding to unskillful thoughts that may arise during concentration practice.
    • Samadhanga Sutta: The Factors of Concentration (AN 5.28). The Buddha outlines the "five-factored noble right concentration," to explain how the progressive development of the four mundane stages of jhana (absorption) leads to the development of the supranormal powers and Awakening.
  • [10 Mar 97] Access to Insight no longer blocked by CyberPatrol. Due to an error on the part of Microsystems, Inc., Access to Insight was incorrectly placed on CyberPatrol's "CyberNOT" list of blocked sites for several weeks. The error has now been corrected. If you should discover that this site is blocked by any of the internet blocking programs, please let me know.
  • [7 Mar 97] Suttas added and indexed:
    • Ayacana Sutta: The Request (SN 6.1). Immediately after his Awakening, the Buddha receives a visit from Brahma Sahampati, who pleads with the Buddha to teach the Dhamma, for the sake of those "with little dust in their eyes."
    • Garava Sutta: Reverence (SN 6.2). Shortly after his Awakening, the Buddha reviews the world around him, searching for another being whom he could now rightly consider to be his teacher.
